"Design from Asia"
The International Design Center NAGOYA (IdcN) will hold in its Design Museum and Design Gallery a special show called "Design from Asia" from June 17th, 2005 (Friday), through July 3rd, 2005 (Sunday). The exhibition will showcase lifestyle products, furniture, interior goods, industrial products, packaging and graphic works from 72 design firms representing ten countries in Asia, including Brunei, Canbodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.

On June 17th, the renowned Japanese industrial designer, Shinichi Yamamura and one of the exhibiting designers, Kenneth Cobonpue will give a special guided tour of the exhibition; followed by the opening reception. This event will doubtless enrich our understanding of the unique qualities of products made in Asian countries.

With the opening of the exhibition will be the title of the seventh installment of our Power Talk series, also called "Design from Asia". On opening day, we will be hearing from three guest speakers, from Japan, the Philippines and India. Their discussion will focus on the feasibility of trying to rejuvenate craftsmanship, the establishment of brand strategies that can help communicate to the public product value, as well as on design development in Asia targeting the world market. This event will doubtless enrich our understanding of the progress and improvement of products made in Asian countries and is also expected to initiate new collaborations among Japanese designers and those in other Asian nations and regions.
