IdcN's Latest Design Information from Overseas Power Talk #7 "Design from Asia"
The purpose of the Power Talk series at IdcN is to dispatch the latest design news from overseas. Three guest speakers will be invited to discuss the theme "Design from Asia". Among the speakers is Masaki Yokokawa, the CEO of George's Furniture Co., Ltd., who consistently catches first wave of every new design movement. Mr. Yokokawa applies to each of his endeavors a unique, idiosyncratic style formed in the amalgamation of disciplines as broad and diverse as fashion, culture and food, but pivoting on the fulcrum of living space. Another speaker, Kenneth Cobonpue, is a furniture designer from the Philippines. Mr. Cobonpue offers an innovative alternative to the western definition of modern design, using natural fibers and materials and putting his own twist on production techniques. Joining these two forerunners in the design world will be Sujata Keshavan Guha, founder of the design consultancy "R+K Design", India's leading brand identity. Their talk will focus on design development in Asia for the world market, the feasibility of rejuvenating craftsmanship, and the construction of brand strategies that communicate to the general public the value and charm of various products, from the perspectives of distribution, design and branding marketing.
