Title: | Plant Light | |
|
||
Comcept: | As the old Japanese proverb goes
"Worry is often the cause of illness," I believe people can change
dramatically by how they think and feel. For instance, for those children
struggling in a harsh environment such as in a refugee camp, their way of
thinking might have great influence on their future. I contemplated if I
could support those people mentally by using this product. The concept of planting light was created from my wish for the product to take root in the community where those children live, just like the plants that grow strongly in the area. The influence of light on human beings does not remain on just one but keeps on spreading from one to another. Eventually it expands worldwide and becomes as for everyone on this earth. Using a special kind of radiator named phosphorescence glass enabled those of us living in developed countries to provide "light" to others. This glass stores photon energy inside itself and keeps on glowing in the dark. All we need to operate this product is sunlight and soil. |

Coment: | Plant Light will glow symbolically at refugee
camps that are surrounded in complete darkness during the night. With recent
light storage technology, this plan seems highly feasible. The piece was
well recognized as it can be used continuously, running on sunlight and
soil alone. At the first judging, advice was given to avoid a design too otherworldly and create a product that could fit in with the people who live there. The model turned in at the second judging, however, still carried a certain sense of oddness. |
