Honorable Mention

Title: uniceffriend (communication and collaboration for someone else)

Comcept: uniceffriend is a pen design reflecting the reality of our life. It is made of two pieces of paper like a postcard. It can be used without any other instrument and also we can easily make it into a pen. It only has the main part of pen. It doesn't have its external part which is the most costly part of a pen, so two pens can be made for the price of one. It enables the user to easily roll this special type of pen by oneself and share with other people. So this careful concept can make people to think of others. By proposing uniceffriend I encourage people to think about communication and collaboration with someone who need pens but cannot currently get them. The practice that you buy and share this pen can be one of donation. This special donation is that we share something we have other than money. This can make the relationship between donors and recipients more balanced and beneficial. It is a small design change from a normal pen but it can be a big change of our life.

Coment: When providing support to children in poor and developing countries, the idea of nurturing relationships between those who give and those who receive rather than simply encouraging money donations, is highly applauded. The designer's wish to eliminate social disparity was strongly felt through the work. The prototype provided needs some improvements, such as the thickness of the paper to be wrapped around the pen.
