| Concept: | It is not easy for people with Cerebral Palsy to dine by themselves. Normal people only need 30 to 60 minutes to finish a meal, but patients need to spend triple to four times time to finish. Patients spend almost half of their lifetime to dine. However, the thoughtful design of AIR ISLAND can help patients dine easier and by which gain confidence. AIR ISLAND can help patients dine by themselves like normal people do, so the burden of the family can be lighter and patients themselves can also have more confidence. AIR ISLAND is designed for the 7 to 12 years old children who have Cerebral Palsy and paralyzed from the waist up, to assist them in dining. Their upper torsos are paralyzed so they cannot move normally. It is difficult for them to eat like normal healthy people. AIR ISLAND is devised to deal with the problem that have mentioned above. | |

Indicating repeated prototyping and careful study of the details, this piece exhibits an extremely well-developed form, both technically and functionally. Collaboration between Taiwan's academic and industrial sectors is actively being promoted; this work is also interesting in terms of the advancing links between industry and academia. I was impressed by this realistic piece that expresses the wish to make humans happy. | |
