愛知県生まれ。1974年名古屋市職員採用。以降経済行政に従事。2003年10月に開催した世界グラフィックデザイン会議では、名古屋市の担当者として尽力し成功に導いた。 現在は、産業デザイン振興をはじめ伝統産業や、中小企業、商店街の活性化支援、当地域への企業誘致など、産業振興施策を担当している。

○デザイン都市宣言後の名古屋市の主な取り組み
1989年　名古屋市議会「デザイン都市宣言」、世界デザイン博覧会の開催、世界インダストリアルデザイン会議の開催
1992年　株式会社国際デザインセンター設立
1995年　世界インテリアデザイン会議の開催
1996年　国際デザインセンターの開館
2003年　世界グラフィックデザイン会議の開催

Takaharu Yasui was born in Aichi Prefecture. After being employed as a local officer of Nagoya City in 1974, he was involved in economic administration. He worked for the Icograda Congress Nagoya, held in October, 2003 as a staff member of Nagoya City, and his outstanding contribution brought the congress to a successful conclusion. Currently is in charge of industrial promotion projects including industrial design promotion, revitalization of traditional industries, local shopping areas and small and medium-sized enterprise in Nagoya as well as the attraction of enterprises to this region.
