マリージョゼ・ラクロワ モントリオール市都市デザイン担当局長 Marie-Jose´e Lacroix Design commissioner, the Design Montre´al bureau of Ville de Montre´al

1982年モントリオールのケベック大学より環境デザイン学士号取得、1985年モントリオールのマギル大学およびニューヨーク州コロンビア大学よりデザインおよび建築を専門とする情報科学修士号を取得。現在デザイン担当委員として、デザイン力強化およびデザイン都市としての地位向上を使命とするモントリオール市モントリオールデザイン局を率いている。モントリオール市はカナダで唯一デザイン促進選任委員を置いている都市である。ここ20年間、ラクロワはデザイン促進にとりくみ、一般市民、政治家および企業にデザインに関心を持つよう呼びかけている。ケベック州のほとんどのデザイン機関、デザインプログラム、デザイン促進イベントに参画し、DIP DesignおよびLiaison Design局を次々と立ち上げた。
1991年にモントリオール市職員となって以来数々のデザインイニシアチブを提唱し、結果モントリオールが2006年6月にユネスコデザイン都市指定を受ける名誉に貢献した。デザインを動力に都市開発推進や都市競争力強化を進めることに熱心に取り組んでいるラクロワは、デザインの領域やモントリオール地域にとどまらず、国際的に活躍の場を広げている。

Marie-Jose´e Lacroix holds a B.A. in environmental design from Universite´ du Que´bec a` Montre´al (1982) and a master’s degree in information sciences, with a specialization in design and architecture, from the universities of McGill in Montre´al and Columbia in New York (1985). As design commissioner, she heads the Design Montre´al bureau of Ville de Montre´al whose mandate is to enhance Montre´al’s design and status as a city of design. Ville de Montre´al is the only Canadian city with a commissioner working exclusively at the promotion of design. For most of the last 20 years, Marie-Jose´e Lacroix has been promoting design and making the general public, the politicians and the business community care about it. She was involved in most design organizations, programs and promotional events held in Que´bec, and successively founded the agencies DIP Design and Liaison Design. Since she started working for Ville de Montre´al in 1991, she has launched many initiatives which led eventually to Montre´al’s designation in June 2006 as a UNESCO City of Design. Marie-Jose´e Lacroix’s interest in design as a vehicle for city development and competitiveness has brought her activities not only within design and the territory of Ville de Montre´al, but also to the global stage.
