“Think!” Design Students Self-planned Exhibition
What can design do in an era of great change?
The International Design Center NAGOYA has called for self-planned exhibition projects that design students in the region themselves “think” with the keyword “society and design”. This project supports outstanding activities that focus on, think and act on society.
This time, for the second ” Think! 2023″, two projects were selected after screening. They are an “Exhibition as a Starting Point” that four students of Nagoya City University reconstructed based on their graduation works, and a project “Are you Stupid or not?” that a student at the Aichi University of the Arts Graduate School observed phenomena considered stupid and turned them into works. The joint exhibition will be run by the applicant students themselves.

“Exhibition as a Starting Point”
Through the graphic design that we have learned, we gave shape to ideas for familiar issues. Each exhibition has a different theme and form of work, but it is an exhibition that will serve as a “starting point” for the four people who are going to walk a new life related to society.

“Are you Stupid or not?”
“Stupidity” can be defined as an act that occurred unintentionally and watched by a third party who arbitrarily finds that action fun. When we see the world in this way, our normative social life would suddenly become full of playfulness. In this project, I aim to bring a sense of relief to the stifling modern society through works that I call the works of “Stupidity” born from observations of our social life.
