In present-day Laos, with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a project called One Village, One Product is underway. The project was designed as a way for village residents to raise their living standards; it is a self-supporting endeavor in which village residents make and sell objects made of materials sourced around the village and utilizing traditional techniques or crafts. Because distributing products around the world brings up the challenges of quality and such, during this time’s Made In Aichi Salon, we will discussed lending the design and technological skills of Made In Aichi to solve these problems under the theme, “As professionals, doing what we can for international cooperation.” After the presenter, Satomi Harada, describes some of the fair trade products in creators shop Loop, we will be treated to a report on a current assessment, while looking over goods that had actually been made in Laos, then processed and turned into products in Japan, we will have a discussion about how we, as professionals, can contribute to international cooperation.
