Report: IFI Interior Design International Forum 2013 [Nagoya]
City of Nagoya Mayer Takashi Kawamura and IFI President Shashi Caan at the Interiors Declaration Approval Ceremony
In July of this year, with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Interior Designers/Architects (IFI), which has 270,000 members from 110 countries, the Japan Interior Designers’ Association (JID) held board meetings and international forums in three locations: Tokyo, Kobe and Nagoya. This was an opportunity to utilize the presence of visiting interior design experts to further publicize the quality of Japan’s own interior design.
At the International Design Center NAGOYA, following a design talk featuring the IFI directors, a guest speech introducing local interior design-related businesses and a symposium, there was a ceremony in which Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura and IFI President Shashi Caan approved the IFI Interiors Declaration. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of IFI, we reaffirmed that professional designers, by proposing creative solutions, contribute to the creation of a richer society and culture. After being named a City of Design, and using design as an urban development theme, Nagoya endorsed the declaration and became a signatory.
