Born in 1972, worked as a designer and video artist within experimental group Garderobe 23 for several years dealing with the possibilities of digital communication and media. His work has been showcased on exhibitions worldwide. In 2003, Suermann founded DMY Berlin, an international platform for contemporary product design, organizing the annual DMY International Design Festival in Berlin as well as international exhibitions and design-related projects in Asia, Europe and America. Suermann is a member of Young Creative Industries and the designer's network Create Berlin.
