Honorable Mention

TitleF Mr.Egg

Concept: The act of eating has always been an enjoyable interaction between the consumer and his food. Everyone looks forward to a meal, a break from their daily chores. However, in our increasingly fast pace world, even meals may become dull and routine. Mr. Egg is an egg concept which hopes to present the relationship between consumer and food in a most earnest way, and to bring a little delight to the whole eating experience. Everyone around the world enjoys a treat of the humble, classic boiled egg. Yet more than half of the people do not know how to boil an egg! There have been many product innovations made to assist the whole egg boiling process. But wouldn't it be even more delightful if the egg can tell the consumer when it is ready to be eaten? The face print on Mr. Egg uses thermochromic ink to indicate the boiling process in a humorous, intuitive way. The face flushes and reddens according to water temperate and time, so anyone can easily tell when the egg is boiled to preference.

Judge's Comments: The playful notion of turning the minutes spent waiting for an egg to boil into an enjoyable time is an interesting idea. However, always having the same type of expression shown may end up boring the user. Additionally, it would likely be difficult to actually add the cost of printing to the cost of the eggs eaten daily.
