Title: | small village of small roof
|

Comcept: | There is a movie titled "The Waiting
List" (Cuba, Spain, France and Mexico, 2000.) It is a story about some people
with diverse backgrounds and concerns waiting for a bus that never comes
to the bus stop of a small rural village. While waiting for the bus to come,
they start arguing on some topics and eventually turn into a community.
After seeing the movie, I realized that in the society where I live, there is no such opportunity as to wait for a bus relaxingly. Even if it suddenly rains in the middle of a city, no one will go under a roof and wait for the rain to stop. A big city has few places where people can stop and wait for something. This gave me the idea to design a public space where people can gather. This product is a device that enables you to have a dialogue with other people and the natural environment; something that we tend to forget in our city life. At clear weather Apparatus that installs the umbrella functions as a pergola at fine weather, and the opened bench can be used freely. At rain This place changes into the space of sheltering at rain. Water-repellent processing is given to the bench and the drop of water doesn't attach. |

Coment: | In a time when communication is scarce, we sometimes feel the warmth and existence of others when coming into contact with strangers. It would be nice to have a tool like this piece that generates communication between people. Placing it in an eventful atmosphere like the world EXPO where people come together for a certain reason or purpose, rather than in a permanent public facility, would be more conducive to creating cooperation. The piece is sure to become a symbolic figure wherever it is positioned. To see the creation of such infrastructure that gives birth to a scene was very intriguing.
